I read about and received details monthly on versions 16, 17 and 17a but began to download and test other programs as I had lost confidence in the product.
Having reviewed the product through You Tube and with a good deal offered through Amazon I bit the bullet knowing if it did not work out I could return the software as not fit for purpose. So what makes Version 18 so good. I have yet to use all the new features and tools that come with V18 but have no hesitation in recommending it. However, make sure your PC has the muscle to run it before you buy. I'm still getting to grips with this new version. I haven't been editing video for a while and have only upgraded because my SLR shoots HD and my older version of Studio couldn't cope with it.
I had won a copy of Sony's editing suite, but despite it claiming to do HD it crashed constantly and was very sluggish and unintuitive. This version, so far, edits smoothly and has a good range of effects and tools. I particularly like how easy it is fix white balance and make colour adjustments. The added tools and complexity will, I am sure, let me make far better use of the video I occasionally shoot.
Oh, and -so far- much more stable than previous iterations. Not one crash yet. Fast delivery by Amazon! I had a trail of pinnacle studio 17 Ultimate and its was easy to use also on youtube I learnt how to use the software more advanced. I have used studio video editing since Studio 8 full of bugs - would never run Studio 9 half full of bugs; crashed on rendering Studio 12 worked reasonably well most of the time and eventually Studio 15 which was the full package.
I decided to upgrade to version 18 Ultimate as I had just built a new computer. It loads with no problems and is packed with features and can even edit 4k 3d video though I have not tried this yet. This is sophisticated software so make sure your PC is up to it - memory is the key. The price was very good - cheaper than the special offer download and you get the hard copy disc.
Looking forward to getting into using it. I've used pinnacle studio 16 before on window 7 but for some reason pinnacle studios 16 I had didnt on windows 8. But its good news just brought Pinnacle studio 18, loaded it on window 8.
